Japanese Restaurant
Awarded “Best New Restaurant” by the Which Good Food Guide 2008, Sake No Hana serves traditional Japanese fine cuisine within the annex to The Economist Building. Leading Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, who won acclaim for designing the Suntory Museum of Art in Tokyo, has created a modern and minimalist interior that is reminiscent of Japan’s typical izakaya bars. When you step into the reception area, you are greeted by receptionists in kimono-inspired bespoke uniforms and inside, there are tatami-covered raised platform seating and a steel bar serving Japanese whiskies and cocktails, Sake and Sochu. The restaurant menu itself is largely based on rustic Japanese food, using seasonal ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. For a truly authentic Japanese experience, the ground floor features a sushi counter with an extensive selection of sushi and sashimi, prepared to order by the skilled service staff and complemented by Sake and old world wines.
